Method of joint goes through joint after joint and resolve the forces acting on each of them. In this video, we solve a warren truss problem using this method.
First, we confirm the truss is statically determinate. Then, we determine the support reactions. Knowing the geometry and configuration of truss members, we go through the joints and calculate the member forces.
The procedure starts by resolving the diagonal forces into x and y components. Then, by using equilibrium equation in x and y direction, we solve for the unknown forces. Since this truss is symmetrical, we can mirror the left halve and get the result for the remaining members.
