Bridge-Pre-tensioning

Pre-tensioning is conducted by stressing the positioned tendon prior to concrete casting.

Before the concrete acquires sufficient strength, the tendons are held by jacking frame.

After the concrete reaches the strength required, the tendons are released. This is when the prestressing is achieved, via the tendon-concrete contact interface over the anchorage length.

Pre-tensioning is mainly used in precast beam.
