Bridge-Incrementally Launched Box Girder

When there is difficulty to overcome the ground obstructions, the box girders may be incrementally launched.

The box girder unit is first casted behind the abutment. After completion, it is pushed or pulled over the pier on temporary bearings.

Subsequent segment is then casted against the previous one, and they are both moved forward afterwards.

The process continues until the deck reaches the final position at the opposite abutment.

This method is usually implemented for span less than 60m.
