Bridge-Arch Bridge

Arch can be used for long span bridge.

When the arch extends above the deck level, lighter deck such as steel or composite decks are preferable. On the other hand, concrete deck is suitable for arch that remains below the deck level.

Due to the structural configuration, the arch section is naturally compressed and does not need prestressing.

Columns are built on arch to support the deck.

In situ slab or box girders, precast beams and launched box girders are usable for concrete deck.
