Bridge-Longitudinal Shear Design

Longitudinal shear force developed in concrete section when the flow of stress is induced due to moment change.

This force is usually checked at the slab-web interface.

Resistance to longitudinal shear is contributed by concrete, provided it is monolithic or able to transmit shear across critical section.
