Pile installation method influences the soil condition adjacent to its surface, and eventually affects the soil shear strength along the shaft.
There are two
types of pile based on their installation method: displacement piles and non-displacement
piles.
The installation
of displacement piles involves the displacement and disturbance of soil. Some examples
of displacement piles are driven steel or precast piles.
The installation
of non-displacement piles typically involves the removal of soil via boring or
drilling to form shaft. Then, concrete is being poured and casted in the shaft
to form the pile.
