Water Demand
Water demand indicates the amount of water required by a premise. Following the water demand rate outlined by authority for each type of premise, we can determine the average water demand for a development.
The adequacy of water supply system needs to be analysed using two scenarios.
Under peak flow scenario, the calculated average water demand is factored. For external reticulation system and supply main, the factors are 2.5 and 1.2 respectively.
Under fire flow scenario, fire flow demand needs to be considered on top of average water demand.
For each of these scenarios, flow through water pipe is the sum of design water demand for buildings within the catchment.
