1mW Water Reticulation Design to SPAN-UTG 004
Valves
Pressure reducing valve is needed at the points where residual pressure is greater than 30m.
Isolating valves, either sluice valve or butterfly valve depending on the pipe diameter, are needed to segmentize the reticulation network into smaller zones.
Dead ends in pipeline should connect to a scour valve, if not a pillar hydrant.
Over the pipeline profile, air valves are provided at all the high points, while scour valve are at the low points nearby streams and drains.
Constant flow valves are usually provided at the inlet to building storage tank where residual head exceeds 15m. This valve controls the water inflow that fills up the tank.
