Reserves for Sewage Treatment Plant
To build a sewage treatment plant, land area requirement outlined in authority guideline needs to be fulfilled. When this condition may not be fulfilled, the engineer needs to prove that smaller land can be used through detailed design.
On top of the land area requirement, buffer zone is needed to isolate a sewage treatment plant from surroundings. The minimum distance between the boundary of plant and habitable building is 30m. This may reduce to 10m if the plant is either enclosed, covered or buried. For industrial area, the buffer is 20m instead. The buffer zone can be used as public park, or reserve for road, drainage and utility. Proper measure must be taken if regular public access to the area is anticipated.
