Masonry

Masonry units such as stone and brick are normally used to construct a masonry wall. Mortar is used to bind the masonry units together.

A masonry wall can be either solid or hollow. These walls may be built as single-wythe or double-wythe.

If the wythes of a wall are completely separated, it will be known as a cavity wall. For this case, the wythes of wall are connected using only cross ties.
