Brick Strength

The compressive strength and modulus of rupture of an individual brick unit are determined via tests.

The minimum compressive strength for grade SW, MW and NW bricks are 3000 psi, 2500 psi and 1500 psi respectively.

The modulus of rupture ranging from 500 to 3800 psi, where the higher the value, the harder the brick.

The tensile strength of brick is about 30% to 40% of the modulus of rupture.

As for shear strength, it is approximately 30% to 45% of the net compressive strength.
