Grades and Types of Concrete Masonry Units

Load bearing concrete masonry unit can be manufactured as either moisture-controlled (type I) or non-moisture-controlled (type II) units. Generally, the shrinkage of type I concrete masonry unit is limited.

Moreover, concrete masonry unit can further be categorized into grades N and S.

Grade N denotes a unit is suitable for the construction of exterior wall for its high strength and resistance against moisture penetration and severe frost. On the other hand, grade S unit possesses moderate strength and resistance to those actions.
