Masonry Wall Bonds

Bonds in masonry wall means the type of procedure used to lay the masonry units.

Running bond consists of only stretcher bond. It is also the simplest one among all the bonds.

A stack bond has no overlapping units. Therefore, it is necessary to provide rigid steel ties.

English bond consists of alternate courses of headers and stretchers. This kind of bond is very strong, but more costly to build.

For Flemish bond, every course consists of alternate headers and stretchers. This type of bond is strong, and more decorative than English bond.

American bond consists of one course of headers for every four to seven courses of stretchers.
