Bonds in masonry wall means the type of procedure used to lay the masonry units.
Running bond
consists of only stretcher bond. It is also the simplest one among all the
bonds.
A stack bond has
no overlapping units. Therefore, it is necessary to provide rigid steel ties.
English bond consists
of alternate courses of headers and stretchers. This kind of bond is very
strong, but more costly to build.
For Flemish bond, every
course consists of alternate headers and stretchers. This type of bond is
strong, and more decorative than English bond.
American bond consists of one course of headers for every four to seven courses of stretchers.
